Love it or Leave it: Unzipped palette by LORAC

I have a slight eye shadow fetish. There, I’ve said it. Other women collect shoes, I collect well pigmented, eye specific, pressed powder happiness. I love the way it looks in the pan, the way it feels when I test it on my finger, the way it adheres to the bristles of my favourite brush, the way it blends seamlessly from one rich colour to the next…I suddenly have this crazy urge to run to Sephora. Hmm. Pardon me. Razz

Okay, you get the point. I love eyeshadow, especially the good stuff. I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I was when I ordered my Unzipped palette from LORAC Cosmetics. Our first introduction at Sephora (where it was sold out) was like love at first sight which only intensified at first touch. I swiped my ring finger across one of the luxurious colours and was positively smitten. Now, you may think my description of this experience is a little over the top, I just think it’s proof that I’m totally in the right business. But the truth is, like all first dates, it’s easy to be impressed under weird lighting and in the state of euphoria that I generally enter into when I step through Sephora’s doors. The real question was how our relationship would hold up once the honeymoon period was over.

We’ve been together for a few months now and I’m pleased to report that the sparks are still flying. I am constantly finding new combinations for these rich, beautiful neutrals which look great on everyone. Uncensored (the middle, bottom pan) is perhaps my favourite brown-gold of all time. Unconditional and Unspoken (top and bottom pans second from the right) are, arguably, two of the best crease colours no matter what look you’re doing. I’ve used them to do everything from a super soft, totally natural eye to a classic, black, smokey eye. And don’t even get me started on Untamed (bottom, right pan) which is such a perfect plummy brown that I get positively giddy every time I reach for it.

The colour payoff is another highlight of this collection for me. Like most other LORAC eyeshadows, a little goes a long way. I don’t find myself loading my brush again and again, as I do with some other brands, in order to lay down the amount of product I need to achieve my desired look. The texture is satiny, the application is smooth and luxurious and the look is absolutely flawless. These shadows also blend like it’s nobody’s business, flowing harmoniously into one another with only a few brush strokes making them such a pleasure to apply.

This palette works on everyone for every occasion; the bride, her mother, her bridesmaids and her 12 year old flower girl. The health and fitness guru who’s taking new head shots for her website. The younger sister of the groom who is a total middle child and wants all eyes on her. The mother-to-be who wants to look completely natural for her baby belly pictures. The sophisticate, the rebel, the makeup-phobe and the glamour queen. Seriously, every woman who wants her eyes to look amazing can achieve any look she wants from demure to dramatic with this phenomenal palette.

Final verdict, like I even need to say it: head over heels in love!! Heart

Here's that black smokey eye with Unspoken in the crease. Helps with the fade-out-to-nothingness you want to achieve working towards the brow bone.
