Everything the Glitters

This Sunday my husband and I will be celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary. I’m a lucky woman; I’m married to my best friend. He’s a man who not only makes me laugh hard enough that I snort, causes my heart to skip a beat with a little, knowing look, renovates our homes to perfection he also makes a mean lasagne and is an incredible father to our 5 amazing kids.

Gift giving is not usually my husband’s thing. It’s not that he doesn’t have the right sentiments, it’s just that he’s so practical that the gifts tend to be more utilitarian than romantic. I mean, I really did appreciate the extra kitchen cabinet, the wireless headphones (so I could watch TV while feeding one of our babies in the middle of the night without disturbing him) and the dishwasher but those weren’t exactly the kind of things I was secretly wishing for. Just to be clear, by secretly wishing for I mean that I told him he could never go wrong with jewelry. Despite my assurances that I was confident in his ability to choose something beautiful for me, he just never felt comfortable with it and so I contented myself with his good, nay great, intentions and super practical gifts. Well, I’m not sure what exactly what happened, but that all changed this year.

I don’t know if you’re familiar with the jewelry designer Rebekah Price but let me tell you, you should be. I happen to actually know Rebekah (we’ve shared a mutual friend for about as many years as I’ve been married) and have followed her rise from pavement pounding, aspiring designer to fabulously successful, entrepreneurial powerhouse with keen interest. In fact, 5 years ago I used 2 of her exquisite pieces as the anchor of an editorial makeup shoot I did as a final project in makeup school. I knew back then that she was going to be huge and I just wanted to be able to say “I knew her when..”. Lol.

Rebekah is one of those women you can’t help but be awed by. She has an grace and style all her own that is effortlessly chic. I’m no fashion expert but I would say that her style blends a vintage – art deco sensibility with a boho breeze and couture flare. Her pieces, much like their designer, are entirely unique, stunningly beautiful, freshly feminine and just the right amount of edgy that you can’t help but fall in love with them. The crystals and colours she uses to create every eye catching item are intriguing and always perfectly executed. You can easily see the attention to detail and high level of craftsmanship which is poured into each necklace, bracelet, ring and pair of earrings. What’s more, something trans-formative happens when you put a Rebeka Price Design piece on. All of a sudden, you brighten up somehow. When I put on my Multi Vanity necklace I felt so incredibly glamorous, I believe I actually stood up straighter.  Honestly, I felt glamorous before I even opened the box: that is the Rebecca Price experience. I don’t know how she does it, but those crystals brought out the sparkle in me. It sounds super cheesy, but I swear it’s true!

If you haven’t already googled her (seriously??) here’s the link to the Rebekah Price Design site. Go take a look and make sure to leave the page open so that your anniversary can be as exciting as mine! Heck, why wait? Just treat yourself to some serious eye candy now and enjoy the glamor and sparkle!

Have a beautiful day,

Rina Smile
