Every now and then, I like to go all out and wear super dramatic makeup. While I do enjoy a good, bold lip from time to time (usually a stunning hot pink, red lips don’t really do it for me) smokey eyes are my go-to, glam power move. I love the soft, smudgy, smoldering look of an updated classic smokey eye and it’s actually pretty easy to achieve with the right tools, products and a little know how. I have a bit of a cheat that I like to use to make the smokey eye process simple and snappy and, because I love you, I’m going to share it with you now. Thank-you for the applause; you’re too kind. Lol.
Step 1: Find yourself a wonderful, rich, inky black, smudge-able eyeliner. Now, rim your top and bottom waterline, and line all the way around the outside of your eye making a heavy black black line along your top lashes.Keep it as close to the lash line as possible, but don’t worry if it’s a little thick; we’ll fix that right up in step 2. The bottom line should be relatively thin (no need to go for the NFL linebacker look) but can be beefed up at the end if you feel it needs it.
Step 2: Using your ring finger or a firm yet soft brush, smudge the black eyeliner you just applied to your lash line all over your eyelid. You can sheer this out or make it as opaque as you want, adding more eye liner as you go to reach the intensity you’re looking for.
Step 3 (optional): Take a soft, matte, taupe-y kind of eyeshadow and apply it to the crease. I say this is optional because you may just want to skip straight to step 4 and use that in the crease, but I’m giving you all the information so you can make an educated decision. Lol.
Step 4: Choose a coloured eyeshadow, any colour, though something that brings out your eyes would be ideal (I like a little shimmer for this look too, personally) and apply on top of the smudged eyeliner which is to say all over your lid. If you skipped the taupe from step 3, bring the colour up into the crease as well. Make sure you leave your brow bone bare and have well groomed brows for maximum impact. As for your lower eye liner, now’s the time to add more if you’d like, clean it up with a q-tip if you think it’s too much or take some of your coloured eye shadow and apply it over the pencil liner. You can do an easy, sultry dropped liner with this as well for a super smoldering look.
There you have it: 4 quick steps to sexy, smokey eyes. You’re welcome.
Have a beautiful day,
